JOSHUA 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for them thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
I've sometimes heard this expression: "Life's 'tough' and then you die." That's a very worldly view of life. It is an expression of hopelessness, indicating that they believe life holds no purpose..... Those who belong to Christ should not hold to that belief... Believer's can easily take that same theme and quote the saying this way: "Life is great, and then we get to go to heaven!" That's the difference that salvation makes. Our blessed eternal life starts the day we are born again... and goes on forever. Death isn't anything to be feared, but to be anticipated. Heaven is.... well,..... it's heavenly... divine.
Blessed people have a blessed thought life. Sure, the enemy tries to influence us, and lead us astray... but as we grow in the Lord, and meditate on His Word, our soul prospers (3 John 2). But constantly thinking on the Word is not an easy task That's because we have not made it a habit. Following the death of Moses, God told Joshua that the way to success and prosperity is by meditating on His Word day and night.... (Joshua 1:8)
It's my understanding that it takes 21 days of consistently doing the same thing in order to form a habit.... be it good or bad. 21 constant days of exercise, for example, will develop into a habit, and something that is not so dreaded. The same with eating.... 21 days of healthy eating... becomes the same thing.... and 21 days of chocolate, or smoking cigarettes, or drinking whiskey... become habits, some of which are extremely difficult to break.
We have entered a new year. If we are to take the principal of forming habits, and want our soul and our lives to prosper by constantly dwelling on the Word, it would be a good idea to start a daily Bible reading schedule at the first of the new year. This will enable you to read the entire Bible through in one year.

It's true, 21 days of consistently doing something will create a habit.... But to do it for one entire year, then it becomes a part of your life. Most Bibles have a one year reading schedule in them,.... usually only couple of chapters a day... If you would like to start this, and you cannot find a suitable schedule, please contact me, and I will forward one to you.
Where do you live? We need to live in the Word. If what we feed our spirit, soul and body is the divine wisdom of God, then our outcome will be established... We will truly have a blessed life, living in prosperity.

Again, a very informative and inspirational message just for me. Please pray for me as I am trying to quit smoking. Again. I had a back injury about five years ago and that eliminated my "good habits" like playing tennis and working out. So now I am a fat smoker. I am struggling with this. The sedentary lifestyle that accompanied the back issue induced eating and smoking. Because I didn't know what else to do with myself.

Hey DONNALOMBA. The toughest thing I ever did was quit smoking. I quit the same month of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. I went to a cessation class and used the patch. Now I am trying to quit drinking Starbucks coffee. I plan to quit this weekend. I did it once before, the trick is to use aspirin to ease the withdrawal. Faith and determination are the key. Thanks for taking the time to comment, you are the first. We are still new to blogging. I am Rick's nephew by the way. Rick has been writing these daily devotionals for a few years now and I recently helped set up this blog.

Hi Rosie, I am Rick's nephew. I helped set this webblog page up. Yourself and DONNALOMBA are the first to leave comments. Thanks for taking time to read TheLambsWay.org. We are still a little new to the blog world. I don't have a schedule but I remember my Great Grandfather used to read the Bible out loud for about 20 minutes before going to sleep. I was just thinking that would be a good habit for myself actually. They say in your sleep the mind processes whatever you were thinking about during the 45 minutes before you fell asleep. I try to avoid the news before I sleep.

It is a pleasure meeting you, I need some prayer as well. I hope to kick my caffine habit this weekend. I have been trying to visualize myself without it. Hard to imagine. Maybe one of us will be the first to post a testimonial in this blog
